Books

I managed to finish “We’re British” and even passed the “Citizenship test” at the end of the book. Well it wasn’t really that difficult if you read the book carefully. I am still reading through “The Complete Cat” and should finish it this week and started “Slam” by Nick Hornby. I love his books and [...]

Improving slowly

I can’t believe my own stupidity. I just managed to somehow delete my entry twice. So it’s back to writing it offline in word and pasting it into my blogging software. What a pain.   Anyway I am back from London where visited some very good friends of mine and my cousin and his girlfriend. [...]

Swear words – the use of

When my father stayed with us over Christmas last year he was quite shocked about the amount of swearing on telly. My dad went to Oxford in the early 70ies and he used to watch Monty Python, Russell Brand is not quite his cup of tea, but he likes Father Ted and surprisingly took [...]

Rick Stein

I am not really into the whole celebrity chef thing. I find it amusing that on the one hand we are constantly reminded of the obesity crisis and that we shouldn’t eat this, drink that and do lots of exercise and at the same time we are inundated with cooking show. Most dishes celeb chefs [...]

Roundabouts are scary..

Today I had my first driving lesson after a 3 week break. I am still finding steering the correct way hard to get used to, but more worrysome to me are roundabouts. Britain's traffic seems to mainly consist of these confusing traffic measures. In theory everyone supposed to know what there are doing, but Cardiff has some famous accident spots where drivers [...]

Cats can freak you out

I don’t know how she does it, but our mog has the talent of freaking us out by just hiding. She is normally a very vocal cat, but she can be extremely quiet and sneaky. We know she would never venture far, she loves her creature comforts far too much, but almost on a daily [...]

I love Skins

I never thought I would like a show about modern teenagers and what they are up to. Skins was advertised as daring, with a lot of sex thrown into the mix. Some critics dismissed it as unrealistic and some people didn’t like the look of it but never watched it.   When I saw the [...]

My reading challenge

This year I want to read more books. It’s all very well to read online, newspapers and magazines, but nothing beats a good book. I tend to mainly read non-fiction and occasionally review books for bookpleasures.com. You can view some of my reviews here: http://www.bookpleasures.com/Lore2/search.php?query=kaut&submit=Go . I have accumulated a lot of books which want to be read, [...]
