I managed to finish “We’re British” and even passed the “Citizenship test” at the end of the book. Well it wasn’t really that difficult if you read the book carefully. I am still reading through “The Complete Cat” and should finish it this week and started “Slam” by Nick Hornby. I love his books and thought “The long way down” was excellent – I guess it won’t be long until Hollywood makes a movie out of it.
I still have lots of non-fiction books to work through – one on proof reading, one on copy editing and one on self-hypnosis for pain relief. But all these books take up way more time as they come with exercises, so I might have to re-evaluate my reading challenge.
However I feel that I have already made a really good start this year – just have to keep the momentum going. It’s just not always possible, especially with deadlines approaching and when a migraine attack strikes. Then I can’t read at all – but have recently taken to listen to CDs – mainly comedy. I love “Clare in the Community” which makes the boredom and pain more bearable (I can’t sleep when I am sick like that). Audio books are generally something I should look into – and I welcome recommendations. Though when it comes to fiction I like to imagine the voices rather than listen to someone else’s interpretation. Comedy is always a winner with me.

Well done Helen. Keep up the good work with the books. This week I've finished George Orwell's 1984 and The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. I didn't like 1984 at all but The Almost Moon was as dark and poignant as all her other books. I would definitely recommend it.
