Found this interesting article on the demise of the hat http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8074663.stm
I think that hats are a good thing – they make people look nicer and kind of respectable. My dad almost always wears a flat cap, to keep sun and rain off his bald head. When I was 14, I went through a phase where I wore a curdoroy flat cap, once it covered a haircut from hell (it was a bit of a disaster), but my teacher forced me take it off in class. These days I don’t wear a hat of any kind – apart on holiday to protect myself from the sun- because I often wear my hair up. After reading this article though I might reconsider and get myself a nice trilby. I do love bowler hats too – they just remind me of so many comedians – mainly John Cleese and his silly walk. I bet though they cost a fortune.
