I had my final lesson (out of a block of 10) on Tuesday. Final – because I can’t afford more at the moment. It took one and a half hours and felt quite long to me!
I am not sure if I will ever get used to driving. My instructor was still worried I’d be too close to the left and thinks I don’t pull to the right (when I actually do) and thinks I use my left too much – I am left handed. We drove around Llanishen, Heath and Whitchurch. I did a bit of reverse parking – and am still steering too quickly. But then I may be too hard on myself because in total I had 11 lessons. I hope at some time to resume the lessons – but I need to find the money for it first. My only worry is that I leave too long a gap and then have forgotten everything I’ve learnt. I don’t dare driving in our car yet as I haven’t even learned to drive on the motorway yet.

It’s important to take lessons in order to learn how to drive on the left. In Brussels I had to get used to cycling on the right and wouldn’t even dare to drive on the right even though I had a driving licence. I did take a cycling lesson as I was worried about cycling in busy parts of Brussels such as where the EU was as I would get off my bicycle and walk through subways when passing through and also to learn to cope with tram lines. I coped better than the other women as I was used to riding a bicycle and some of them weren’t.
