When other people’s cats go missing..

It can be just as upsetting.

Since Sunday last week our neighbour’s cat Elise has been missing. Now Elise was not a cat who was very friendly to humans and she liked to invade Bobby’s territory. We are also pretty sure she bullied Bobby, who is a very gentle and placid cat. But Elise was certainly adventurous and would roam around the area. We found out from other neighbours, who first mistook her for Bobby (though she is basically a tortoiseshell), that she would sneak into their house. She also had no qualms in getting the attention of the dogs from our other neighbours. Though I didn’t want Elise in our garden, for obvious reasons, I liked her and find her disappearance very upsetting. I talked to her owner who has been looking everywhere. We also checked the derelict garage in our lane – well as much as we could. Unfortunately you can’t really access it properly as it is not a stable building. The roof has been torn down and it’s a mess inside. We fear that the cat might have got trapped inside.

I still very much hope that Elise will turn up happy and healthy and her usual mistrusting self. I think even Bobby misses her. She keeps looking out for Elise when she sits in the bedroom window.
