Please adopt a cat if you want to live with one..

Today I received a worrying press release from Cats Protection about the decline in cat adoptions due to the recession. According to the release 16 out of their 24 adoption centres have noticed a decline, which means a lot of furry friends are in desperate need of a loving home. The adoption centre in Wrexham [...]

Please squash your tin cans

If you love animals please read this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_west/8396139.stm It doesn’t take much effort to squash tin cans. Alternatively you could just make sure the bags are safely tied so the cats can’t rip them  and don’t put the bags out before very late at night.

Cat Globetrotter – French couple travel the world with a super cute cat

It’s always fascinating what you can find on the internet. People think that we are slightly bonkers, because we walk Bobby in the neighbourhood and in the local forest. But that’s nothing compared to what Laetitia and Guillaume are doing – the French couple is travelling the world with their grey tabby “Kitty”. This cat [...]

If you like dogs you might want to read this and help

http://www.dogmagazine.net/archives/3045/eleventh-hour-mercy-plea-to-save-death-row-dog-bruce/ This is quite a disturbing story I got emailed and I thought to pass this on. It’s quite sad that they let this happen in NI.

Disturbing documentary of the week

Yesterday I caught “My Monkey Baby” on Channel 4. The programme followed three American couples who bought a monkey as a “Baby” substitute. One couple was young and the man didn’t want a human baby, the second couple was retired and the woman suffered from empty-nest syndrome, in the case of the final couple (not [...]

Rescue hens are looking for a good home

If you have read on of my earlier posts about chicken, then you know that I think that they make good pets. I found the following on the journalism forum I go to and I hope that maybe some readers out there have a heart and a home (with enough space) for a couple of hens. [...]

Slow Loris

The other day my husband showed me incredibly cute YouTube clips featuring the Slow Loris. I’ve never seen these cute critters before and they are very endearing (check out this clip for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLdQ3UhLoD4 ).   These tiny creatures with their huge eyes and dextrous paws just want to make you cuddle them – [...]

Don’t choose a cat by its colour

The other day I received a press release from Cats Protection containing statistics of cats taken in by their four largest adoption centres. Black and white cats topped the list with 1355, closely followed by Tabbies with 1201 and black cats with 841. The reason for this is simple: black, black-and-white and tabby cats are [...]
