I haven’t posted for a while about my diet progress – because I haven’t made any significant progress. In fact I think I have stalled – but dare not touch the scales. Last time I was at the gym my shoulder and neck were in agony and we could only work the lower body, so in the end I cancelled training for the unforeseeable future and decided to get my neck and shoulder problem fixed. A while ago I had an email from a therapy provider who specialises in ART – short for Active Release Technique. So I thought I try this out.The treatment combines movement, stretching and massages and treats problems with muscles, tendons, nerves, ligaments and fascia. After 4 sessions though I had to give up because I couldn’t feel any improvement and the pain in my left arm, which is also my dominant arm got worse. So now I am back with my physiotherapist Osian from Recovery and Beyond and am hoping he can fix my shoulder.

More from the diet front
Well today I weighed myself for the first time in over a month and am pleased that despite what I thought, I have actually lost a bit of weight and am now down to 58,2 kilos. Obviously this is very slow progress, but slow is the way forward. At least I don’t feel hungry. The training is tough and John does push me to my limits. But the hardest thing is not the actual exercise and making sure I exercise at home too, but sticking to the new carbohydrate after 5 pm regime. I have to admit that I occasionally lapse and find it really difficult.

Diet progress…
I have been using gyms in the past and you usually get one session with a trainer who creates a plan for you and then you are on your own. Of course you can ask a few weeks later if you can change your routine. The problem with this is that you are never sure if your posture is correct during the exercises and the trainers are often busy or don’t know you and your routine because they are on shifts. I often ended up worse for wear. Having one-to-one personal training is completely different and (hopefully) more effective.

Dieting is still tricky ..
Despite my good intentions of losing a significant amount of weight – I aim to lose 10 kilos – I haven’t made much progress. This is due to a) finding food diaries incredibly tedious to write and b) neck and back problems which prevented me from exercising. And without exercise you can’t really lose weight.

Dieting isn’t easy..when you can’t exercise
Like so many other people this time of year I have decided to fight the flab and lose weight- and not just some weight – lots of it. In my 20ies I used to weigh 49 – 50 kilos, which is the weight I feel most happy with as I am quite small 1.60m or 5 feet 3inches). Apparently I am as tall as Lady Gaga and she weighs 50 kilos.

Getting Bobby back to a normal sleeping routine..
..is easier said than done. A few months ago our cat started to develop a sleeping or more precisely waking up pattern which clashed with ours. She would wake up at 4 and hassle us by scratching the carpet, cupboard door and anything else she could get her claws on. It’s an incredibly annoying sound …

Why I hate diets
One of the many things I want to achieve this year is to lose weight (by May actually). Since arriving in the UK in 2002 I have gradually put on weight, I suspect at least 5 kilos (I don’t dar going on my scales right now) and I simply don’t like what I see. …
